The caravan guard stepped up to the challenge area and shook slightly, facing off against a Khadi was barely worth the coin she had earned her first shot struck true landing in the Khadi's shoulder and she took the first arrow stoically as it graved off her upper arm. Her follow up missed by only inches but missed it did. The Khadi was deadly accurate with a bow especially for someone only dabbling in the art, the second shot stuck in the caravan guards leg a little. No money was worth her life. She faced the Khadi and bowed out at least having not embarrassed herself.

Mari had always cautioned her champion, for lack of a better word, to be careful.
That this event was proposed sickened her, but it was too late to back out now. Showing cowardice in front of the metaphorically and literally heartless was a quick way to an unfortunate ending.
Mari was encouraging, though it was obvious that nerves had almost gotten the better of her archer. Still, it did hit.
