If it looks like a carpet, floats like a carpet... (EN closed near Ra'Shari camp)

Raya decided that dangling a shadowy flying carpet around the caravans would be a terrible idea. However, she was too curious about if it really was a magic carpet. So, she slipped out of the camp. Carpet on one side, and a candle lamp on the other side so it didn't hurt the shadowcarpet.

Once she had gotten far enough from the camp to not be easily spotted, she placed the candle lamp down then moved a bit further from that before laying the carpet out.

"I wonder how this works...hm...can you float?" she asked the carpet

The carpet sat upon the sand now and then seeming to drift in and out of being under the light of the full moon.

If it responds to verbal commands it seems it does not speak Ra'Shari as there is no reaction to her question.

[Raya]

There was a frown.

"Please float?" She tried in Mekhem!

[Jewel]

Another language it did not understand... or it did not have ears to hear... one or the other.

[Raya]

How does it work!

Raya was starting to get frustrated.

"How did it work in the stories...they went to sit on it yes?"

She moved over to the carpet, sitting down on it to see if that would get some manner of reaction.

Sitting on the carpet, her own shadow mingling with it, she does feel some sort of connection. It seems like she may be heading in the right direction.

(Spellcraft/Intelligence TN15 or take 0.1 Shadow Taint to command the carpet. Will allow basic flight from take-off to landing but anything fancy (or combat) will require additional rolls or sacrifices)

Now something was happening! It felt weird, and not quite right, but it was happening.

"Let's fly!" She said excitedly, hoping it would finally work!

There's a strange, somewhat stomach flipping, sensation as the carpet suddenly begins to rise off the sands though it passes as Raya gets more used to the feeling of movement in such a manner.

She feel a moment of freedom and elation as the carpet begins to rise and fly - five feet, ten feet - above the sands...

Until the a passing cloud finishes obscuring Kaleel's gaze and the light of the full moon shines brightly down upon her and her new mode of transport and she finds herself falling through nothing into the sand below.

The pain in her stomach was soon forgotten as the carpet began to rise and move. Soon she was laughing.....which was gone with an 'oof' as she fell to the sands.

She laid there for a short while, just looking up and thinking magic carpets are difficult.

Eventually she sat up, rubbing the back of her head and frowning, trying to locate where the carpet had gone and collecting it. She had a plan, but she needed to find something to action it, so for now she would return back to her caravan to scheme and sleep...
