No One's Safe (LM, House of the Heavens, Event)
Songs and words of prayer fill the massive interior of the House of the Heavens as the people gather to praise Shilah for her mercy and to beg for her protections... especially after the terrors of the night before. Though the Caliph's snubbing of the temple had left it more minimalist than its past glories it was still a spectacular and beautiful sight with its massive murals, beautiful stained glass, and intricate mosaics.
The faithful kneel in prayer as the high priestess of the temple, in resplendent robes, guides their prayers and devotions.
She is in mid prayer when a voice rings through the temple, "God nor Caliph none can save you!" The heretical cry is punctuated by two arrows, fired by a cloaked figure near the entrance of the temple, sailing towards the priestess....

Characters may participate in both this event and The Hungry City 2 despite the same time slot (not eating is not eating). However, if participating in both any penalties from The Hungry City 2 apply in this event.
The assassin begins this event with 10 Assassin Points. These points will be adjusted by the success and failure of characters and decide the outcome of the event.
Before the attack
Prior to the Assassin's strike those gathered may either be in prayer or, if Assassins themselves, helping set the stage for what is to come (optional - not all Assassins are necessarily aware of the plan). Choose one of the following:

The Strike
As the strike begins some may be quick enough to intervene while others will react to the aftermath.
Roll Perception/Investigation TN20 success means you may choose an option under Intervene or React while failure means you may only choose an option under React.
Wary applies to this roll as does Cursed by the Realm of Waiting. Characters with Quick reduce the TN by 5.
Intervene Choose one of the following three options:
Defend the Priestess: You try to reach the priestess in time to push her out of the way of the oncoming arrows
Roll Defense/Reflexes TN15.
Success, and each successful raise, removes one Assassin Point.
Disrupt the Assassin: You won't be quick enough to stop them from firing but maybe you can knock off their aim.
Roll Brawling/Reflexes TN15.
Success, and each successful raise, removes one Assassin Point.
Defend the Assassin (Assassins Only): You 'accidentally' end up in the way of those trying to help.
Roll Athletics/Reflexes TN15
Success, and each successful raise, adds one Assassin Point.
React Even before the arrows strike the priestess the assassin had already turned and fled out the temple. Choose one of the following options.
Give Chase!: Try to get outside and get eyes on the assassin before they can escape.
Roll Athletics (Running)/Strength TN15.
Success removes one Assassin Point.
Failure results in 3k1 damage as the assassin, or their accomplices, strike out to deter you.
Decoy (Assassins only): Waiting outside, in a similar cloak, you dart off in a different direction than your comrade.
Roll Athletics (Running)/Strength TN15.
Success adds one Assassin Point.
Failure results in 3k1 damage as a would-be hero lashes out at you while in pursuit.
Tend the Priestess: Try to staunch her wounds.
Only the first success counts for this option but multiple characters may attempt until one succeeds.
You may cast a healing spell (subtle casting applies) in lieu of this roll which will count as a success with no raises.
Roll Medicine/Intelligence TN20.
Success, and each successful raise, removes one Assassin Point.
Failure, and each failed raise, adds one Assassin Point.
'Tend' the Priestess (Assassins only): Try to worsen her wounds, or distract proper healers, while pretending to treat them
This option may only be selected once. It may still be selected even if there has been a successful Tend the Priestess roll as the two healers bicker over the right course of action for the patient.

Success, and each successful raise, adds one Assassin Point.
Even in failure add one Assassin Point.
Calm the Crowd: Panicked souls send the scene into chaos help keep them calm so they don't get in the way of efforts to help.

Success removes one Assassin Point.
Failure adds one Assassin Point as you accidentally heighten their panic.
Stir the Crowd (Assassins only): Panicked souls send the scene into chaos... perfect.

1-5 Assassin Points - the assassination is thwarted with minor wounds to the high priestess but the assassin manages to escape. Everyone who intentionally removed Assassin Points gains 1 Day point and +0.1 Glorious Reputation.
5-9 Assassin Points - the high priestess is gravely wounded and, while not dead, the Assassins have successfully dealt great damage to the city's morale. Assassins who added Assassin Points through Assassin Only actions gain 1 Day Point.
10+ Assassin Points - the high priestess is dead and her attacker evades escape easily - the people of the city are shocked and terrified. Assassins who added Assassin Points through Assassin Only gain 3 Day points and one rank of Faction Influence.

Magic may be usable before the strike and in React but Intervene happens too split second for spellcasting. In any case subtle casting should be remembered to avoid negative repercussions.

Al-Haddar was praying extra hard for the souls of all the people that had died in undead related circumstances around him, very thankful of Shilah to have spared him that same fate.
Assassins!
Sometimes, having the ghost of your brother constantly looking above your shoulder was a boon in disguise. Al-Haddar reacted faster than he should have in normal circumstances, going from his prostrated position to a leap in a fraction of a second, pouncing on the priestess like a panther on instinct alone... And completely missing said priestess, instead landing with a as beautiful as useless roly-poly a few steps away.
Guess instinct can only take you so far.

Raya had been at the house of the heavens to take part in prayers. It was a interesting prayer session, but Rayas eyes were not closed, and as panic ensured with arrows and knives flying she was caught up in the panic! Shouting and running as others were!

Qasim came to these things out of duty and appearances much like how he paid lip service to Status quo of the city. It was essential for blending in and good for business to be seen as an upstanding member of the community. He sang the hymns with a wonderful voice that up lifted those around him.
He however had no idea the assassin was coming until it was too late! He fled with the crowd but did his best shouting for order and to calm the masses around him. It seemed to be mostly effective.

The nostalgia of the festival was still on Faruq's head as he walked to the House of Heavens for prayers today. And he *did* show devotion... until the time when the assassin revealed themselves.
Faruq's instincts quickly kicked in, and he ran forward to do what he thought he could - help the Priestess.
For some reason, though, his hands started trembling again, as they had the day before. The Priestess wasn't in a good shape. Was it the feeling of powerlessness? Was it fear and regret coming back? Was it uncertainty as to his own abilities?
He didn't know what it was, but his usually composed face got taken by increasing tension as his attempts to stop the woman's bleeding failed, miserably...

The Ide joins the throng that has pressed into the House of the Heavens, borne along by the mass of people attending to their souls. Hearing singing, he begins to intone along. Rettousei does not know the words, of course, but his voice is clear and singularly mellifluous, leading many to pause in their own devotions and look on him with appreciation. And it is perhaps one with this that he does not notice the commotion until it is well and truly started, but he does see an armed man attempting to abscond from the place--and near to him, too!
Rettousei gives chase, keeping up with the fleeing assailant with some difficulty, but keeping pace, nonetheless.
