Shadow Plays (LE, Throughout the City, Event)

[Raya]

As the shape that was Raya's own shadow churns before her she feels a deep, sharp, pain within as if two forces were warring within her.

As the pain, and the eclipse, fade away a slip of shadow... roughly carpet sized... remains where her shadow was cast.

The pain knocked Raya for six, and by the time the shadow and the eclipse had faded away she had curled up in pain on the floor. Taking a few deep calming breaths she slowly stood up and blinked at the carpet that sat there.

"Wait did that work? For real?"

She would move to pick up the carpet.

As she turns to the candle to examine it more closely she watches the part near the candle seem to melt away like smoke. Pulling it back towards her though she finds it intact.

Looking over his shoulder at his still wounded friend Asher takes a deep breath, "I want Jadzia to be tougher, smarter, to heal faster, to be the best she can be"

The material of the carpet... was it even right to call it material... was unlike anything she had felt before. Smooth and slightly cold to the touch with seemingly no weight to it. As she turns to the candle to examine it more closely she watches the part near the candle seem to melt away like smoke. Pulling it back towards her though she finds it intact.

"What the...."

Raya was incredibly confused, but it certainly seemed like a magic carpet. A real, very magical carpet!

She would carefully pick up and carry the carpet back to her caravan to examine further...

The thing that was Ashe's shadow coils and shifts and begins to flow towards the shadow of the gorilla. Jadzia, sensing something amiss, howls in terror. A howl unlike anything he had heard even as she was being torn into by the ghul. But Asher manages to calm her even as the shadow makes contact and the great beast goes quiet and still.

For the longest time she is as a statue until finally she shifts and moves again... something blacker than black swirling within her already dark eyes.

Qasim knew many things. He not only dealt in Luxuries and antiquities but things of knowledge. He had seen many ancient scrolls and hidden texts on his journeys. Whispering in dark tombs of dead things and things better off as such. He knew, if only by rumor that on this night one could attain things otherwise unattainable.

He lit a candle and followed the rumors beseeching the dark powers to listen to him. Many of his colleagues believed colluding with dark powers to be anathema to their cause but in Qasim's mind anything that can help them balance the scales against their eternal foes was worth some risk. Using fire to fight fire as the saying goes.

He felt the chill and opened his eyes to see his own shadow moving on its own. The entity did not speak and Qasim gulped doubts creeping in but he shook those. Before him lay opportunity and he would not be the man he was, would not be where he was today if he did not take opportunity.

"I ask thee for something to kill that which cannot die. Power, or a weapon to fight our enemy, that which lords over man." He said and sat waiting for the beings response.

The silent shadow seems to ponder for a moment before an inky tendril reaches out to touch Qasim's forehead.

A flash of pain. A flash of knowledge.

When he recovers his shadow is his own once more though within it there is a small shard of greater darkness... a jagged black crystal, knifelike in shape.

(Qasim gains Lore: Khadi 1 and the knowledge that only by destroying their heart can one be truly undone... even by near celestial powers)

An Eclipse, in the middle of all that was happening.

That was very dark indeed.

Faruq spent some time at home, thinking, wondering, remembering.

Not remembering any dark rituals, though.
