For every soul willing to go out of their way to help the less fortunate it often seems there are another dozen ready to prey upon them. Of course some of those who helped the less fortunate did so by being even greater predators still.....

This event does not require a navigation roll.
Finding Prey:
Roll Lore:Underworld TN10 or Investigation/Perception TN15.
Each successful raise gives a free raise to use towards future rolls in this event.
Failure ends participation as you find nothing this night.
Characters with Insensitive must spend a Void to participate.
From the Shadows (Optional):
Roll Stealth/Agility TN15 to find the best vantage point to strike.
Success and each successful raise gives a free raise to use towards your next roll in the event.
Failure alerts your target before you are ready to act. You must call a raise, and an additional raise for each failed raise on this roll, to no benefit on the next roll.
Choose one of the following approaches
I Am Justice!:
Roll Brawling/Strength TN10 to capture your target for rendition to the guards.
Success, and each successful raise, grants 1 Night Point.
If failed take 3k1 damage plus an additional +1k0 for each failed raise as your target strikes back and escapes.
Characters with Large, Hand of Stone, or Blessing of Bahadur the Champion gain a free raise on this roll. Characters with Cursed by Bahadur the Champion and Small add +5 to the TN.
I Am Vengeance!:
Roll Weapon Skill/Agility TN10 to slay the perpetrator and ensure they never prey on the innocent again.
Success, and each successful raise, grants 1 Night Point.
If failed take 3k1 damage plus an additional +1k0 for each failed raise as your target strikes back and escapes.
Characters with Soft-Hearted must pass their Willpower test to take this option and will suffer +10 to TNs from this thread until EE D3. Characters with Touched by the Realm of the Hungry Dead or Cursed by the Realm of Slaughter must take this option. Characters with Brash must succeed at their Willpower test to take an option other than this one.
I Am Terror!
Roll Intimidation (Bullying)/Willpower TN15 to scare your target onto a more righteous path.
Success, and each successful raise, grants 1 Night Point.
Failure has no penalty and no reward as the target laughs at you, leaves their current prey alone, but will find another.
Character with Disturbing Countenance, Large, Touched by the Realm of Slaughter, or Touched by the Realm of Evil gain a free raise on this roll. Characters with Cursed by Bahadur the Champion, Small, or Soft-Hearted add +5 to the TN of this roll. Penalty for Frail Mind applies.

Magic may apply but subtle casting is required to avoid negative repercussions.

by Rufus Belgica
Rufus was aware of the squalor that he had to work in. Plenty of hungry eyes had been watching him as he made his way to boarding houses in the River District not far away. It would appear that if he was going to stick around for a while, a message would need to be sent.
It wasn't hard to get a taker. A foreigner wandering around a rough part of town, by himself? He was practically asking for it!
But this time as he comes Rufus turns and pivots. It's not the cleanest movement, normally used to a heavier blade, but the knife slides into the man's gut.
"Thanks for getting so close." Rufus moves the dagger into the man's gut, making sure that it is a messy end. He pushes the body and slumps it off to the side. Rufus cleans the blade of the knife on the man's clothing and strides off into the night. This time, footsteps skitter away from him rather than towards.

by Al-Haddar
Had al-Haddar taken the way back home passing before the colorful house of Shadi the painter, the cheapest guy you could call to hide the holes in your wall under a thin coat of paint, he would have met his cousin Jadia, that would have told him about Yasin the Unpleasant being back in the quarter after several months of loveable absence, and that might have been the start of an adventure.
However, he had gone through Dwarf Street instead, thus called because, due a partial caving of the buildings on the left side, the already narrow street had been changed into a minuscule covered alley where a standard height human had to crawl under unstable masonry to go through. And thus, nothing special happened.

by Faruq Al-Farhan
Faruq knew this happen all too often. Every night, even. He knew it, he had deep-rooted opinions on what caused it, he would like to see it change, he hoped the small things he did week in, week out could have some small effect on it.
As the nights grew longer, however, so did the crimes grow more common. Even more so close to home - the sudden screams from the Maze became harder to miss.
He did know some of the places where that kind of thing happened often. He knew all too well from a difficult childhood and even more difficult teenage years how to keep to the shadows, waiting for the best moment to move - usually out if danger, but moving in to disencourage someone couldn't be that different.
But how convincing could he be? As he found out, yelling "Why do you do this?!" just before a bandit's knife would find one of its target didn't do much other than draw the bandit's attention to him and cause him to laugh. "You do
not need to do this, Rafiq!", he shouted at the top of his lungs. "We are stronger together than like this!"
That only brought more laughter and a 'Yeah, right, go back home' from the bandit.
Faruq sighed, frustrated. It seemed like one would have to
be the darkness to root out the darkness in others...
He'd heard before, of course. But how could strength in unity be created like that?...

Day 2 An End to Suffering, EE. Finding prey. Lore:Underworld/Intelligence. TN 10 | 3k3 ⇒ 20 (TN: 10)
Day 2 An End to Suffering, EE. I am terror, free raise from finding prey. Intimidation/Willpower, using free raise to reduce TN to 10. | 3k3 ⇒ 22 (TN: 10)
Claudia had overhead from one of her patients that the old man was luckily to be harassed by a band of thugs on his way home that evening. Well, not on her watch, or more accurately, grandfather's.
"BEGONE FOOTPADS, LEST YOU TASTE YODOTAI STEEL". The thugs decide that there's no great count in fighting a ghost and scarper.
((1 night points)).

If you're going to take from others, do it with grace and finesse, and steal only from those who can afford the loss. That was the first rule of the Phantom King. It was also the rule his princess would live by.
The thugs never saw her. They made no sound when her blade stole their lives. Those they had been stalking likely had no idea how close they had come to harm.

by Nihira
Just as the sun was getting lower in the sky, Nihira was out on the street looking for evildoers. The Nihira Signal hadn't gone up into the sky but that didn't mean she was already out an walking the beat looking for thugs to punish. And would you look at that, a thug was trying to shake down an innocent old man. Well this wouldn't do at all.
Finding Prey Investigation/Perception TN 15 rolled 23
Now was her chance to do some good. She made for the shadows in the hope of appearing seemingly out of nowhere and giving the thug a good scare. They'd call her Dark Nihira for the way she blended in with the shadows so well...if anyone knew she did. Too bad the point was that no one was supposed to know she was there.
From the Shadows Stealth/Agility TN 15 rolled 20 free raise earned
Aha! From out of the shadows she sprung her surprise trap. "Thinking you can prey on the weak?! You'll rue that day! Rue it, I say! Go on, start rueing." The thug didn't look to be rueing anything. The time came for Nihira to fire off a warning shot across the thug's bow with her sling. The rock flew almost completely silently and crashed right into the thug's forehead, leaving them to crash into a heap in the dust.
"Whoopsie. Did I get you? Did that hurt? Oh...oh, they're dead. Yup, I'm talking to an official corpse. You should have rued when I said to. I think I gave you enough time to rue. Umm...have a good evening." And with that she was off to fire more warning shots off against anyone else who would prey on the innocent.
I Am Vengeance! Athletics/Agility for sling TN10 two raises to TN20 rolled 42 w/free raise
Finding Prey: success
From the Shadows: success, earned free raise
I am Vengeance: success 1 night point + 2 raises + free raises = 4 night points
Total = 4 night points

by Cassim
These bullies were a problem. Cassim had tried to make this point politely a number of times. Random violence was not a money maker. But no, Cassim worked in the Market and was supposed to leave the Maze alone. Never mind the fact that if a merchant wandered into the Maze and was killed, it wasn't the Maze that was getting extra patrols.
Finding someone isn't hard. Unfortuntely, they hear him coming so Cassim isn't able to surprise them
