Rude Awakenings? (D2, EM, Closed)

Having falling asleep entwined in each others arms the two women slept peacefully for a time not knowing that the night might yet have plans for them.

(Raya and Soraya must each make Investigation/Perception at -3k0 versus TN 8)

Sora slept soundly, too comfortable and happy to awaken just yet.

Deep in the depths of slumber one often ignores minor things. A cough here, a body shifting or shaking for a moment in a bad dream, these may register but they do not draw one into full awareness.

Soraya does not notice when Raya coughs once, twice, again. She does not notice the stream of fetid water that coils as if a snake in the space between them. She is blissfully unaware until she is drowning.

Soraya sat up the best she could with a start, pounding a fist below her chest as she tried to force the water out; She wasn't sure what was happening (who would be in such a case), but she tries to cough it up, spit it up, force it out... anything.

Fortunately her adrenaline kicked in and she cleared her head, trying to think fast.

Day 2, EM, Earth Roll to clear dazed. TN20 | 2k2 ⇒ 26 (TN: 20)

Soraya manages to catch her breath for a moment forcing the disgusting fluid from her but the water still continues to flow around and over her. Striking again and again like a snake trying to find entrance through her mouth or nose.

The movements and sounds are finally enough to awaken Raya but to her horror the Ra'Shari finds her eyes are all that respond. She lays, paralyzed in her night terror... surely this is a dream after all, feeling the tether of water rising from deep inside her to attempt to claim her lover.

Soraya is no longer dazed
Raya is awake but Stunned - Earth versus 20 to clear.
Ending the Stunned condition ends the encounter)

All the sounds finally rose Raya. Well, rose not being quite correct, as she couldn't rise. Or blink, or move. Or...well, anything, except express panic through her eyes.

Sora covered her nose and mouth while seeing Raya open her eyes... though not moving. She spoke from behind her hand, even as she slipped off the bed to try to lead whatever this was away from her good friend, "Raya! Are you okay?!"

The water tries to chase the fleeing Dahabi but it seems, perhaps, that there is a limit to its range as it flails uselessly after her.

Realizing that, as horrific as this is, it is no mere nightmare Raya forces herself back into proper wakefulness and regains control of her body... and apparently severs whatever force was animating the water.

It collapses from its serpentine form into a puddle of putrid muck soaking the bedding and floor between the two women.

Stun clears on round after first attempt - Raya is no longer stunned.

Raya springs up now she can move, falling forward over the edge of the bed entirely unintentionally from the sheer forcefulness of trying to move, her hands coming forward the only thing that stops her faceplanting the floor. Her breathing deep from the panic of not being able to move.

[Soraya al-Menjari]

Sora coughs some before running over, kneeling in front of Raya and pulling her up into an embrace. She was scared, but nowhere near as concerned as she was for the Ra'Shari woman, Sora's more motherly instincts taking over, "Raya! Are you okay? You're not hurt? Do you need me to get anything?"

Her hand petted the Ra'Shari woman's wild hair as the other rested on her back gently.
