Always happy for an excuse to relax and celebrate throughout the city people can be found enjoying games and contests of skill and merriment.

Players may choose to Boast or not and then select one of the following events to participate in. The Boasting roll must be made before the event roll in order to count.

Boasting (Optional):

If you choose to Boast roll Perform:Oratory/Awareness TN15 or Sincerity (Honesty)/Awareness TN20. This is not considered an opposed roll.

If you call raises on this roll you must call at least the same number of raises on your event roll.

If you fail this roll you gain -2 for failure and an additional -1 per failed raise on your event roll as you are demoralized by being ignored or mocked.

If you succeed on this roll you gain Glorious or Infamous reputation from your event roll. Gain +0.1 Glorious Reputation for success and for each successful raise on the Boast roll if you succeed on your event roll. Gain +0.1 Infamous Reputation for success and for each successful raise on the Boast roll if you fail on your event roll.

Event:

Choose one of the following events and roll the appropriate check against TN10 (other non-gambling games may apply).

Games: Shatranj/Intelligence
Games: Go/Intelligence
Games: Jacks/Agility
Athletics (Throwing)/Reflexes
Athletics (Running)/Strength

On success gain one Day Point and an additional Day Point for each successful raise. There is no penalty for failure (unless you Boasted).

Magic may apply but reduces your winnings by one Day Point to a minimum of zero for poor sportsmanship. Subtle casting applies to avoid negative repercussions.

On some street or another, Ide Rettousei, having thoroughly enjoyed a cup of coffee, comes across a group watching footraces. Chatting a bit with the spectators, he finds himself persuaded to take part.

"Well," he says, "I do like running. Back at school, I used to win most of the races among my cohort. I think I could do as well here, Heavens willing."

There is some jeering, but it does not last long. He is no Hiruma or Usagi, of course, but lots of running has left Rettousei able to do it well, indeed.

"Thank you for the race!" he says to his opponent, bowing with a smile on his face. "It was fun!"

Asher decides to give it a try tossing one of the knives easily just for a little bit of a distraction

Fun and games sounded good to Nihira. In fact, she modeled her life after fun and games. So when she strolled through the Merchant Quarter and saw a couple of people throwing knives at a board with a target painted on it she couldn't help but stop and get involved. A couple of knives were thrown, one through her legs and another over her shoulder. They hit they target and Nihira smiled of course but felt like she could have done much better. To be fair Nihira always felt like she could have done better.

"Thanks for the fun knife game. What kind of wood is that? Did you make it yourself? Why did you choose that color paint?" The person running the game had to field a big handful of questions from Nihira after she stepped to the side to let others have a turn.
