Located northeast of the center of the Jewel near the Houses of Dahab the Palace of Wonders is the most splendid and opulent building in all of Medinaat al-Salaam and one of the greatest in the known world rivaled only by the Great Eye of the Desert and the Palace of the Maharaja. Many among the Rokugani argue Otosan Uchi's place on the list but the charitable chalk this up to a difference in aesthetics while others simply dismiss it as petty nationalism.

The Palace of Wonders was constructed early in the life of Medinaat al-Salaam as a gift from the recently contacted Senpet Empire. Constructed by the finest of their architects, still the only ones allowed to enact repairs or expansions of the structure, it has, until recent years, served as the home to both Sultan and Caliph and their respective bureaucracies.

Following the death of the previous Sultan, al-Rassulii called Chosen of the Prophets, his son and new Sultan, Kedar al-Rassulii called the Bold, chose to relocate to the Kasbah stating there were too many painful memories within the Palace. Since then the bureaucracy of the Sultanate has relocated as well.

Now only the Caliph and the most trusted of her Khadi dwell within the Palace though Caliphate bureaucrats still make use of traditional offices during the daytime hours.
