Character Creation

Human characters only.
Starting points are listed in the Game Information thread for the current game.
Step 1: Pick an Origin
Step 2: Pick a Faction
Step 3: Pick a School from the list of either your Origin or Faction. Schools of other Origins may be taken with the Different School advantage. Schools of other Factions, other than Unaligned, may not be taken.
Step 4: Add +1 to a non-Void trait that is different from the trait bonus granted by your school.

Characters may not start with Influence above 3 in any category at creation.
Players will begin with two languages. Their native tongue and Mekham. If Mekham is their native language, they may chose one of the following languages to know for free: Senpet, Ivindi, Rokugani
Approved Kiho are found here. Monks and Guru learn kiho as non-Brotherhood monks. Ninja learn kiho as per usual for Ninja. Sahir do not have the ability to learn kiho.
We will not be using the following: Kata, Maho, Shadowlands Powers, Ancestors, Heritage Tables, or Honor Rolls.
Starting outfits with bows that do not list arrows start with 20 arrows of a chosen type.
For Traveling Pack items use L5R 4e core as a guide and flavor them appropriately to your culture.
Purchasing Advantages after character creation costs an additional 2XP per rank.
Buying off Disadvantages requires twice the XP cost and sufficient story justification.
