The year is 1100 and Majdala al-Rashid, Khadi Delegate to House Menjari, has taken up a fascination with the art of archery and when a being as powerful, and as rich, finds an interest it spreads quickly among the people seeking to make an impression. Despite the laws preventing weapons of war from being carried within the city archery has become the latest fad and, to further her pleasure, Majdala has decreed that there be a festival and tournament to celebrate the sport - offering a personal boon to the victor. With such a prize on the line citizens scramble to prepare to enter and the wealthy and powerful choose their champions.
