Waking Up Is Hard To Do [D5EM]

Awake.

Ali woke with a start. Even wounded, he could tell he was not in a familiar place. He reached for a dagger that wasn't there, muttered a curse when he failed to find it. And then winced, sinking back down, as the sudden move sent pain shooting through him.

Okay. Calm down. Take a breath. He did so, his chest rising and falling.

He was not in prison. This was someone's home, by the feel of it. Wincing, he brought a hand carefully to his injuries, feeling the bandages there. Piece by piece was coming together, giving Ali a picture of where he was.

"Hello?" He rasped, wincing at the rough sound of his own voice. Rough and weak. Clearing his throat, he tried again. "Hello?" No less rough the second time, but stronger. Grunting, Ali pushed himself half up, looking around.

Faruq hadn't been awake for long either. It had been a long day, and although he was obviously in a much better condition than Ali was, the wounds still made sleeping harder. He looked at the bandages after waking up - they still hurt a fair bit, but seemed better.

He then looked at the man still sleeping in his usual bed - he'd placed a wicker mat in the ground for himself. Seeing him breathing more easily was a relief - even if getting him here and... Keeping some things out of the way needed some work.

He knew he'd have to change his bandages, and preferably also Ali's, but first things first. He went outside, limping a fair bit less than the night before, and made them some coffee.

As he entered the small hovel again, he heard Ali's rough voice, and sat down besides the bed.

"Morning Rafiq. How do you feel?", He said as he pour some coffee on two clay cups for them both.

After offering the coffee, he gets his medical supplies again. He decides to change his bandages for new ones and have another look at his own wounds before trying to care for Ali's, which were much nastier.

Luckily enough, his wounds had healed pretty well, and he managed to get the work on himself relatively quickly and soon get seated besides the bed again, ready to share some coffee - if Ali is well enough to drink it - and to work on the guard's wounds, changing his bandages and maybe applying some more effective tinctures or other products that might help him heal more quickly.
