Personal modesty had never been one of Kezia's strong suits, but she still made a point of wrapping a blanket around herself before stepping out of the caravan to look up at the sky.
A little more rain, and cold, but...

Stepping to the lee side of her wagon, she took advantage of the free water falling out of the sky to clean up.
All around the camp, the children were putting out more bowls, basins, and cups to catch the windfall as well, even thought the previous day's heavy rain had almost certainly seen to their needs for the foreseeable future.
"Auntie Kezia, will you be bringing that redheaded guy with us when we leave?"
"That's his choice, Motshan, not mine."
"If you do, are you gonna... well. Marry him?"
"He's no Ra'Shari, Motshan, no matter how much I like him, so why get married? He has no caravan for me to join, after all."
"Okay..." The boy seemed relieved, having evidently not thought that part of things through. "Can you teach me that trick with the cross-draw later?"
"Maybe. We got any soap?"
Motshan, no fool, ran off to get her some while the rainfall continued. Later, Kezia would heat some water for a sponge bath, but for now...
