"I think we both know where hope tends to get you in this city..."

[Aydi al-Qais]

"Well, into the sewers, but..." He waved his hand. He had a suspicion the rat may be actually a transformed sentient being. Or something.

[Kezia]

"Yes, yes, we can and should hope for the best I suppose..."

[Aydi al-Qais]

"Hope can be a delusion for the delusional, or the power of the powerless. If you can tell them apart, you can avoid the first and use the second." Aydi said as if quoting something from memory.

[Kezia]

"Meanwhile... the day is just getting started."

Kezia glanced about.

"Never a dull moment, hm?"

"Rarely!" He laughed. "The side-effect of putting yourself in the way of trouble." He gestured around.

"Must be why we do it so often,...."

[Aydi al-Qais]

"Sitting on one's hands probably never gave anyone a meaningful life." Aydi shrugged. "But I guess that's enough excitement for one patrol. I'd better go back to the actual patrolling. Going with me, or off to do some Ra'shari things, Kezia?"

"Now how would it look for you, as a patrolman, to be keeping company with me, hm?"
