While the Market and River Quarters may be held as more important to the city the Residential Quarter is the city. It is home to the lower and middle classes of Medinaat al-Salaam - the vast majority of its citizens and visitors.
The inhabitants of Medinaat al-Salaam tend to divide the Quarter into various Districts but these divisions are from clean cut. While it is true people of a heritage and a language tend to group together, and thus influence the aesthetic and design of their neighborhood, exceptions always abound. No long term resident of Medinaat al-Salaam would blink twice at the sight of a Rokugani living beside a Mekham family in the Senpet District.
