Tales of the Jewel

Claustrophobicly narrow alleys wind in patterns that had no thought given to their construction giving The Maze its all too apt name. Packed full of the poor and unfortunate of Medinaat al-Salaam those unfamiliar with this district easily find themselves lost and wandering in circles.

While not as dangerous as the Khesir Quarter the Khadi have no care to what occurs in The Maze as long as it does not oppose them so it rarely sees the sight of guards and is home to no shortage of criminals. It is common for neighborhoods to pay what food and water they can spare for protection... and sometimes much more than they can spare depending on the nature of their 'protectors'. Most criminals, however, find little of worth close to home and instead strike out into the city to make their underhanded living - retreating to the confusion of The Maze when the guards take notice of them.

For outsiders it is not recommended to enter without a skilled, and trusted, local guide and, for those bearing clear wealth, a bodyguard would be a wise investment indeed.
